Unpub 3View: Brewing Up a Business

As we head towards Unpub 3, I’m going to start previewing the games people will experience at the event.

Benjamin Rosset is one of Unpub's big supporters, and he's one of our success stories. At Unpub2 last year he presented a little game called The Market, and in the fall of 2012 if was successfully funded on Kickstarter with an awesome publisher (Nevermore Games) and a brand new name, Mars Needs Mechanics.

Ben is back with us this year bringing an all new game with an even longer title: Brewing Up A Businessan Agricola-style worker placement and resource management game set in the world of craft breweries.

Let's see what Ben had to say about his new project in our Unpub 3View Survey...

What was your inspiration for Brewing Up A BusinessVisiting Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, DE, and learning about their incredibly rapid expansion the last few years.

What is your favorite part of Brewing Up A Business?  You really feel like you are directing a brewery.

To your knowledge, What do other people find most interesting about Brewing Up A Business?  Learning about brewing beer.

What has been the most challenging part of designing this game? Its got a lot of variables, so balancing everything has been key.

What advice would you give to players attempting Brewing Up A Business for the first time?  Don't try to do everything.

What has surprised you most in play-tests of Brewing Up A Business? I'll get back to you after UnPub3!

People who like___________ will like Brewing Up A Business. Why? Agricola. The Worker placement mechanic is similar. Like Agricola, this is a heavier Euro-style game.

Ben is looking forward to gaining valuable feedback on his game and I think it's fitting that he'll be presenting it so close to the inspiration (Dogfish Head is a local favorite.)
