Unpub 3View: Escape From Pirate Island

As we get closer to Unpub 3, we've decided to preview some of the games coming to the show.

Today we're going to take a look at Mike Young's Escape from Pirate Island! This game is making it's second appearance at an Unpub event, since it was present at Unpub 2. Sadly Mike tried to take advantage of our failed blind testing program last year.  What didn't work at Unpub 2 was getting people to play games based on reading the rules while there were so many games available to be taught on site. We've gotten rid of blind testing this year, but Escape from Pirate Island is making a return trip and bringing the designer with it (and another of Mike Young's games, the always awesome Meteor!)

Escape from Pirate Island is a cooperative adventure game set on a tropical island filled with all the familiar characters from pirate lore!

What was your inspiration for Escape from Pirate Island? It came to me in a dream.

What is your favorite part of this game?  Escaping the Island with just one card remaining.
                                                                                              To your knowledge, What do other people find most interesting about Escape from Pirate Island?  It has adventures. It tells a story.
                                                               What has been the most challenging part of designing Escape from Pirate Island?  Cutting out the parts that needed to be cut.
                                                              What advice would you give to players attempting Escape from Pirate Island for the first time? Keep track of the deck. It imposes a time limit on the game.
