Unpub 2023!

Unpub is moving back to March! The 2023 Unpublished Game Festival will be held March 16-19, 2023 again in Hunt Valley, MD. 

Tickets will go on sale 10/31 at 10am EDT.

WHAT: The 10th Annual Unpub Gaming Convention

WHEN: March 16-19, 2023

HOW: Badges and tickets are ON SALE NOW

***We made some changes for 2022 and will be making more for 2023***

A big one is that badges no longer come with a Reserved Table automatically. Badges and Reserved Blocks will be separate items within Tabletop.Events

• Table Types
  • We will have 3 different types of Reserved Blocks in the playtesting hall for 2023.
    • Storytelling/RPG Games (4 Hours) (6 Tables) ($40/$30 Sunday) - 66” Round Tables with 8 chairs on one side of the Playtest hall to facilitate playtesting of Storytelling or RPG Games
    • Standard Block (4 Hours) (42 Tables) ($40/$30 Sunday) - Traditional 72” long tables as used in the past
    • Party/Dexterity Games (2 Hours) (6 Tables) ($20) - Round 66” Tables with 8 seats or 12 standing on one side of the playtest hall to facilitate playtesting of party or dexterity games without interrupting other playtests
• The Reserved Block schedule has also gone through a change as we work to accommodate multiple types of design in our space:
  • Saturday and Sunday will have ‘staggered starts’ for blocks. Half of the Storytelling and Standard Blocks will begin at 10am with the remainder beginning at 12pm. The Second Blocks at these tables will begin at 3pm and 5pm respectively. Party/Dexterity will be 2 hour blocks all day with 30 minutes for switch over/

BADGES:

• Badge Sales Begin 10/31/2022 at 10am EDT HERE
• Unpub 2023 will have 3 levels of Attendee badges:
  • VIP Designer Badge ($300) (5 Available) allowing access to all 4 days. This also includes A Full Weekend Reserved Block at one of the 5 Tables located nearest the entrances to the Playtesting Hall. The table will be reserved for you from 12pm Thursday through 9pm Sunday.
  • 4 Day Badge ($45) allowing access to Designer Day Thursday including the Mixer and all events scheduled that day.. There will no longer be a distinction between ‘Designer’ and ‘VIP Playtester’ badges in this regard.
  • 3 Day Badge ($15) allowing access to the event starting at 12pm Friday and through the weekend. You will receive a printed badge and swag bag.
• ***Reserved Blocks will be handled separately from the Badge purchase using Tabletop.Events’s Ticketing/Events system***
• Unpub 2023 will have the following badges available as well
  • Publisher Badge: $60 (waived in lieu of sponsorship) Access to all 4 days with all panels and events including the Mixer. Access to Unpub Meeting Rooms as needed and scheduled
  • Media Badge: Complimentary Access to all 4 days with all panels and events including the Mixer. Access to Unpub Meeting Rooms as needed and scheduled

VIP GUEST:

We’re excited to have Randy Flynn as our special guest for Unpub 2023! Randy is the designer of Cascadia and Tabriz as well as quite a few unpublished games in a variety of categories. He began designing after playing modern board games with his partner Marleen & son Julian for several years. After dabbling for several years with a large civilization building game, he got serious and focused on Tabriz as something that he might get published. And it worked! He is a big fan of local design groups and playtesting at conventions across the country. When not designing games, he is writing computer code, playing basketball, watching soccer, or walking the dogs.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

All attendees at Unpub 2023 must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend the show. We will be checking vaccination status for each attendee before they are allowed to receive their badges. Acceptable forms of proof will include the actual record cards, photos of the cards, or any state provided passport style app.

We are also requiring face coverings at all times in all Unpub areas. We will have a supply of replacement masks in the event that anyone forgets or due to breakage.
