Unpub Preview: Wind Power

As we move towards upcoming Unpub events we’re going to preview some of the games which will be exhibited.

Saturday's Unpub Mini at Enchanted Grounds in Highlands Ranch, Colorado is going showcase 5 unique new games. One of those games will be Wind Power by Gideon Bob, a tile placement game where players will create a maze of wind and try to capture the most wind in their windmill.

Gideon was a breeze to talk to, so let's hear what he has to say about this game...

What was your inspiration for Wind PowerI aimed to make a game with simple rules that led to large complexities.

What is your favorite part of Wind Power? The artwork and the mental challenges.

To your knowledge, What do other people find most interesting about Wind PowerOther people like the artwork and unique strategy, which is not obvious.

What has been the most challenging part of designing Wind PowerTrying to diminish the feeling of randomness that comes from a complex  end game.

What advice would you give to players attempting Wind Power for the first time? Don't worry about winning on your first game, just play it through. You'll figure out the strategy once you learn how to "see" the game.

What has surprised you most in play-tests of Wind PowerThe fact that gamers and non-gamers alike enjoy it and struggle with it.

People who like________ will like Wind Power. Why? Set. It has a visually challenging grid of cards, though Wind Power has strategy layered on top of the visual component.

What do you hope to accomplish at the Unpub Mini at Enchanted Grounds on Saturday April 6, 2013 from 1pm to 7pm? To get more impartial feedback and ideas on how to make the game even better.

Tell us anything else you want to say about Wind Power that I haven't asked or you haven't said already. This game play is short and intended as a filler. It has good depth for its simple rules and play time.
