Unpub Preview: Havok and Hijinks

As we move towards upcoming Unpub events we’re going to preview some of the games which will be exhibited.

Today we're looking at a game coming to Atomic Empire for our Unpub Mini on Saturday March 2. This game is being present by Adam "Ferrel" Trzonkowski and it's called Havok and Hijinks. I have always loved the sound of the phrase "Strategic party game," so it goes without saying that my interest in Havok and Hijinks is high before I even read this post, since that's the type of game this is.

Let's just jump right in and hear what Adam has to say about this game...

What was your inspiration for Havok and Hijinks?  Playing fun, quick games at conventions between events (e.g.: Nuts)

What is your favorite part of Havok and Hijinks?  It is easy to learn but offers a surprising amount of strategic depth

To your knowledge, What do other people find most interesting about Havok and Hijinks? Many people seem intrigued by the world the game is set in.

What has been the most challenging part of designing Havok and Hijinks?  Keeping enough depth for core table top players while also making it easy enough for anyone to play

What advice would you give to players attempting Havok and Hijinks for the first time? Enjoy the game and remember that it is supposed to be quick! If things don't go your way another round is coming right up!

What has surprised you most in play-tests of Havok and Hijinks?  The difficulty of balancing the dragon-specific abilities to make them feel unique but also not supremely over powered

People who like__ will like Havok and Hijinks. Why?  Nuts - our game is somewhat similar but offers an additional level of depth and expandability

What do you hope to accomplish at the Unpub Mini at Atomic Empire on March 2?  We would love to get some feedback about the game from people who don't know and love us! Honest testing is so wonderful.

Tell us anything else you want to say about Havok and Hijinks that I haven't asked or you haven't said already. We hope to create a game that interests the core tabletop audience but also offers a jumping off point for those players to introduce their friends and families into the fantasy genre.

So, if you're near Durham, NC, come on out to Atomic Empire on March 2, 2013 and experience Havok and Hijinks along with other great games like the recently previewed Fog of War!
