A Time of Chaos is a competitive pick-up-and-deliver action-selection game played on a variable board. Players become time-traveling adventurers, tasked with restoring important artifacts to their proper places and times. But traveling through space and time has its consequences: Whenever time-travelers reveal themselves, they add disorder to the time-stream. Too much disorder, and entire cities can be lost to space and time, penalizing the players who caused this rift.
The game plays across three grids of tiles. Each grid is an era, and each tile is a city. Players can travel within the grid, or jump from their current city in one era to that same city in another era. Each grid is shuffled during setup, so the game’s setup is incredibly variable, and the connections between cities will change every game. All of this complexity comes with a relatively light ruleset making this a “next-step” or “medium-weight” game.
