Unpub 8 News & Updates

NOTE FROM THE BOARD Greetings fellow gamers! The Unpublished Games Network Board and event organizers met this weekend for, wait for it, five hours, and talked everything Unpub 8. We are so pumped for two months from today! Festivities will kick off on Thursday evening at 6pm with the Designer Mixer for those who hold a designer, publisher, vendor, sponsor, or VIP playtester badge. For these specific badgeholders, an email will arrive in your inbox by 7pm EST on January 22nd with some important updates! We are looking for a few good souls to volunteer for the event. Please read more about this below. If you have a favorite game store or a local gaming group, we would love to send you some fliers to post or share. We just need your name and address please! Please inbox us on Facebook or email us at info@unpub.net if you are willing to help out. Otherwise, for any questions, please inbox us on Facebook or email us at info@unpub.net VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The application will remain open from January 21, 2018 to March 10, 2018 or until positions are filled. You will be representing the UNPUB Organization. The expectation of you is to adhere to the Unpub Attendee Policy. By agreeing to be a volunteer, and by filling out this form, the understanding is that you have read the Attendee Policy here https://tabletop.events/conventions/unpub-7/pages/policy Once the application closes, we will contact you via email with a link to sign up for specific duties on specific shifts. If you have any questions, please feel free to email volunteers@unpub.netor inbox us on Facebook!Unpub 8 Volunteer Application VIP AND GENERAL PLAYTESTER TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE! We have been receiving a lot of questions about how to sign up, as a designer, for playtesting time. Unfortunately, designer tables have been sold out since August. There are plenty of VIP playtester badges left and we don’t anticipate them selling out. If you’re a designer, we’d recommend getting a VIP playtester badge as it will give you access to the full show including all designer activities. You just won’t have a designated time/table for playtesting. We will be handling any cancellations and no-shows on-site, so as a VIP playtester you’d have access to our waitlist for tables. You can get a VIP playtester badge here: https://tabletop.events/conventions/unpub-8/badgetypes GETTING ON THE WAITLIST The waitlist will become available at 3:00pm on Friday March 23rd at the Designer Corner. You must be present to sign up on the waitlist. VIP...

Unpub 8 Venue

**NOTE: We are aware you are currently unable to book the rooms online, please call them at the number and group code at the bottom of this page to book your room(s) until the hotel enables online registration. We apologize for the inconvenience. The Delta Hotels Hunt Valley location is really a one stop shop for Unpub. Not only do we have our own private and well-laid out space, which will save us from the Health Insurance Info Sessions and Cheerleading Competitions of the past, but it, well, let us just share a few of the highlights that sold us on the place. Parking: The hotel offers 900 free parking spots with a spillover lot if needed right next to the light rail – oh yeah, selling point #2, the light rail. Light Rail: It was between 25-30 minutes from BWI to the Convention Center, then another 15 minute walk to hotels. Now it’s a 75-80 minute ride but a far less walk! For all of the schedules for the Light Rail on both weekdays and weekends, please follow this link to the Maryland Transit Authority: https://mta.maryland.gov/light-rail Meeting Space: The ballroom is ours to play and outside it is surrounded by our vendors and sponsors. We will have a real coat check for designers, VIP guests, publishers, and vendors. We have private rooms for panels. Once we set up for the con we will be able to rock and roll, no more setting up Friday evening or early Saturday morning. Everything will be set up as of Friday morning. Food Options: Less than a mile walk from the hotel or a shuttle ride away, yes there is a free shuttle, is the Hunt Valley Towne Center. It holds all of the staples of a mall, a movie theater, plenty of food choices, and more. https://www.shophuntvalley.com/ There also are several restaurants within walking distance such as Texas Roadhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, and Outback Steakhouse. The Delta Hotel offers two casual restaurant featuring American Cuisine, the Polo Lounge & Bar and Cafe 245. Lodging: As this is considered to be a hotel and convention center, there are plenty of rooms and then some for anyone and his or her Uncle! Hotel room blocks are available for $129.00 a night plus tax. Double and single bed rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. When reserving your room, please make sure to use the code: UG1. As of right now, you only may reserve via phone, but the code on the Marriott.com reservation page will be up and running shortly. Origins Photos Requested

Send your photos of prototypes and the Unpub ProtoZone to Unpub001@gmail.com While Unpub was at Origins, I was not. It was a beautiful thing to watch the Twitter feed for games that were unpub related, designers I know that are out there doing their best to get noticed. I was happy to have such a great team of volunteers watching over the Big Blue Noodle and talking to people, dealing with the paperwork and making things happen. One thing I never seem to have enough of after every event is pictures. Pictures are one of our greatest tools to drum up interest in an emerging game. People will see the game before they play it…a picture can spark the discussion that leads to the conversation that ends in the sale every designer is hoping for. …So, let’s see what you got. If you took photos at Origins 2013 and those photos include prototypes of Unpub games, we’d love to see them and help you share them. Maybe it was a game during our ProtoZone in the Board Room each night. maybe it was a shot of one of a game already in the program, maybe it was just a prototype being played at a table in open gaming, the food court…or on a floor somewhere. Whatever, where-ever…as long as it’s a prototype we’re happy to see it, and if we can confirm it fits, we’re happy to share. Now, we also want photos of games that are finally out in the wild. Games like Pixel Lincoln, VivaJava, Salmon Run, Mars Needs Mechanics…or upcoming games like Paradise Fallen,Princes of the Dragon Throne, Council of Verona, Compounded, Brew Crafters,  Tessen, VivaJava Dice… and so many others. If you have shots of those games, we’d love to share them too. Send them along…. We will attribute every photographer and every designer and game we can. All photos will be hosted and shared in our Origins 2013 Event Page. We will also be sharing them via Facebook, and on Tumblr in the coming weeks. Shots from each game will start appearing on the game’s Unpub.net Game Entry within the next month. So, these photos, your name, your game will be out there. We take no ownership of your photos and want to share. We’re happy that you’re willing to share with us. All you need to do is send the photos to unpub001@gmail.com and we’ll get them up as soon as we can.   Thank you for...
